We are close to the start of another college football season and one of the most anticipated games will be on September 1, 2012 in the Cowboy Classic which will feature the University of Michigan Wolverines against the defending national champs, the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. This football game will be played at the extravagant Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas which is 15 west of Downtown Dallas.
The football game is scheduled for a 7pm kickoff time which gives all the fans coming in from all over the United States a chance to experience the food and fun that the Lone Star state has to offer. Before the game, stop by Chop House Burgers which was featured on TV’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. While Chef Kenny Mills is known best for the Chop House Burger,
which mixes ground beef with slow roasted brisket, I am always partial to flame throwing 10 Pepper Burger.
You definitely want to get to the stadium early to take part in the tailgating, which will be happening all over the Arlington area. For those still looking for a tailgate to join, check out 1010 Social, which will have a 3 hour open bar from 3-6pm, BBQ from Eddie Deans Smokehouse, an outdoor patio view great view of the stadium and an outdoor DJ with a 200 inch TV screen showing all the day’s college football games.
With many of the Alabama and Michigan alumni and fans flying into Dallas / Forth Worth International Airport (DFW), you can still find reasonable accommodations close to the airport and a short distance to the stadium as well as downtown/uptown Dallas. The Wingate by Wyndam Las Colinas is the perfect hotel choice for your visit to Dallas.
Once the football game is over and it’s time to celebrate a victory or try to forget a tough loss, head to the uptown Dallas area where a number of restaurants, bars and clubs will be serving up cold drinks and great music. For a more laid crowd, check out Sfuzzi Uptown or Idle Rich Pub. If you are ready to dance, make your way to Teddy’s room for the burlesque show or Avenue for great hip hop and house.
Our hotel in Grand Prairie is just minutes away from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
